The One Hitter – Cease Day
TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Well not only that, but it’s also $1 Hot Dog Day. Regardless, pretty much the entire White Sox nation is HYPED AF today for the first major league appearance of Dylan Cease. I am pretty hyped too, as I look forward to seeing this young kid play, but I also got introspective this morning. I sat on the couch as Bonita Steakie and I were watching some of our favorite Adult Swim cartoons and thought…….

SOME DAY WE WON’T BE SO EXCITED ABOUT THESE DEBUTS BECAUSE THE WHITE SOX WILL ACTUALLY BE GOOD

………………………which is inevitably true, even in the ugliest of iterations of this rebuild not hitting it’s full expectation there will be seasons soon where the hope of a playoff berth will be large and in charge and will likely overshadow these one-off mlb debut days. Oh, we’ll still celebrate them, but it will be more of a 2009 Gordon Beckham arrival…..where we needed reinforcements and we weren’t just happy he was there, we needed him to produce immediately (he did, then did very little after that).

So Cheers, for one of the last of these of the rebuild, the way I figure, we’ll get Luis Robert and Nick Madrigal and before you know it, these debuts will be a footnote in the larger game story of the White Sox needing that key win vs an individual opponent to continue their playoff push.
