We Deserve Better Rain Delay Theater
This past Saturday, the White Sox had the Cardinals down to their final out when the sky opened up and John Brebbia suddenly looked like Ted Striker at the climax of Airplane!

While that would be a perfectly normal look for Michael Kopech, this was due to a torrential downpour that caused the game to be delayed. That delay would last the next few hours.
It’s at this point, NBC Sports Chicago switches over to a marathon of Graham Besinger interviews. I’d check in every once in a while to see if the game had restarted to see him interviewing Brett Favre or having Logan Paul jump on him from the top rope, or some other crap. I would immediately flip back to something else. But what I was flipping back to on the other channel gave me an idea.
The Kentucky Derby was that same day. I think many of us were watching and we probably even had a crisp $2 bill bet on the race. As I was watching that, I was thinking about how when I have a little time to kill in Vegas, let’s say 20-30 min while I’m waiting to head to dinner or something, I hit the sportsbook and maybe put a few bucks on the ponies. It’s an enjoyable past time and what’s great is the races go off frequently and they’re completed quickly. They’re perfect for Rain Delay Theater.
If you’re wondering about timing, just open a racebook app any time of day. I’m writing this at like 7am on Monday and there is no shortage of races happening around the world.

As that little camera may indicate to you, yes, you can watch the race. Meaning there is a telecast of all of these races. Most rain delays are not as long as the one we saw this weekend, so you maybe get in 1-2 races. Betting a few bucks per race, nobody’s going broke, but more are entertained than normal.
Let’s make it happen.
