The 5 – Times Clark should have died in Christmas Vacation | 12 Days of #108Mas

I was recently watching Christmas Vacation as it is one of my favorite Christmas movies. Chevy Chase is incredible as Clark Griswold. The physical comedy in this movie is fantastic, especially when he puts himself in great danger. It made me wonder, how many times should he have died in this movie?

1 The Intro Car Scene

When Clark’s road rage gets the best of him at the beginning of the movie, he almost smashes into the car in front of him, he does drive underneath a truck, and he almost hits a snow plow before Fast and Furiousing his car directly into the parking lot. There are multiple times he coulda died here, but we’ll count it as 1.

2 Falling off his roof

Clark putting up his Christmas lights leads to a few hilarious ladder mishaps, which are fun, but likely not lethal. However, the fall from the roof, which he luckily slows by grabbing the gutter coulda been the big one. It ultimately just leads to some quality Todd and Margo instead of his demise.

3 Electrocution

This might not be the most obvious one, but my god, his power strips were terrifying. There are multiple opportunities for him to get fried, but he avoids it.

4 Sledding

This scene is tremendous. What I like the best is that his whole career in this movie is just a setup for this moment. When he hits the snow, I audibly laugh every time. But you can ask Sonny Bono, this is tough to survive.

5 The Police Raid

Look, I have not been a part of many high profile kidnappings, but I can bet that sometimes the kidnappers get iced and they sort shit out later. Luckily for Clark, this is not the case, but it was a definite possibility.

There are probably more since there was an active fire in his house and the squirrel chase coulda got out of hand, but these are the five that came to mind.
