Houston Astros OVER 86.5

First up, we have the artist formerly known as the 108 Side Chick. That was before all of their silliness. The Astros are still hella talented and they showed that last year by going to the ALCS after having a brutal regular season and sneaking into the expanded playoffs. The makings of a terrific team are still here. They no longer have the big name front line pitching, but they have sneaky good talent on that side anyways. The ‘Stros also still brandish a very fucking good lineup. A dead cat bounce from Jose Altuve. A little better health from Yordan Alvarez and Carlos Correa. Compile that with the impending Kyle Tucker breakout and this is the best team in the AL. Do I think all that happens? NO. But I still think OVER is a solid bet with the combination of talent and meh division.

Oakland Athletics UNDER 87.5

In the past, I’ve told Biguns “I trust Billy Beane more than my wife and I REALLY TRUST my wife.” But not this season.

But this Athletics team just doesn’t have the requisite depth and likely out-of-nowhere bounce that a Billy Beane one usually has. There’s versions of this team where you can squint and see a division winner. Let’s say Jesus Luzardo makes 32 starts and AJ Puk makes 25, I could see me being nervous the final week of this season, but I think the rest of the base talent just isn’t good enough to hump this total.

Los Angeles Angels UNDER 83.5

BeefLoaf fave Dylan Bundy.

The Angels were the toughest pick for me in this division, far and away. They could’ve made it easy on old BeefLoaf had they just signed one difference maker at Starting Pitcher. Sure the total would’ve been higher, but coupled with the mediocre depth they built up, I would’ve had an angle.

Sooooooo, I decided to flip a coin like Anton Chigurh…

Under it is.

I think the main reason that my coin decided to push me to under is that EVERY. DAMN. YEAR. we count on Mike Trout to be this fucking juggernaut. The best player in baseball. Well what if ole Mikey, now a dad, now coasting to 30 years old in August, goes from best player on the planet to, still really fucking good player entering his 30’s. That would seem to be a notch or two lower. Couple that with the Angels powerful finishing move of trading for Alex Cobb and you got yourself a disappointment like you are to your in-laws.

Seattle Mariners OVER 72.5

As a kid, trying to stay up late in the 80’s and early 90’s watching the White Sox play at the Kingdome, I always thought it was a piece of crap looking stadium.

The Mariners look like a crappy team and they probably are, but they have enough young talent with Jared Kelenic and Kyle Lewis that I think over 72.5 is a mitvzah! This team also has bounce-back candidates like Kyle Seager, Mitch Haniger and the recently reunited (Peaches & Herb edition) James Paxton. The bounce-back candidates might end up in warmer locales by the 4th of July but if they are good enough for this 72.5 cashes easy.

Texas Rangers UNDER 67.5

The Rangers are a bad team. I applaud them trying to flip Elvis Andrus for Khris Davis (no not Chris Davis, that’d be YIKES) and moving Isiah Kiner-Falefa, but that’s moving around the deck chairs on the Titanic. It appears they know they are bad, because they shipped off Lance Lynn (Thank you!).

They also did bad rebuilding team stuff in the off-season like signing David Dahl (me likey) and Mike Foltyenwicz (meh). This team seems content with a top 5 pic and to me, they gotta be at least even money to be as bad as the Orioles. WOOF! At least they got theyselfs a new ballpark.

That was fun!! Remember if you want to bet along with the BeefLoaf or go oppo taco on my bets, be sure to hit the Pointsbet link HERE or earlier in the blog or that gigantic banner below and deposit using the promo code 108ing.
