The Jane’s Addiction Fight

By now, you’ve probably seen this footage on the interwebs. Perry Farrell goes crazy mid-song, checks Dave Navarro, and then takes a swing at him. Dave seems surprised as hell by this, so what the fuck happened.

Etty Lau Farrell was nice enough to provide a firsthand version of the story in this Instagram post:

Now, this is the story from Perry’s wife, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. However, it’s pretty believable if you’ve ever been on tour with a band. Lots of shit bubbles up. But there are a few things I thought reading this:

1. Eric A has been waiting FUCKING YEARS for this moment. He pounced on this opportunity like Tom Brady replacing Drew Bledsoe.
2. Dave Navarro absolutely did more than what’s noted here to be the one Perry went after. I’m a big Dave fan, to the point I will still contend his album with RHCP is really good. But I know the man has some flaws. Ain’t no way it was just this.
3. Nobody in the front row of a rock concert has ever complained that the music is too loud. So that part feels like pure bullshit.

All in all, still a great band, and Eric Avery continues to be one of my favorite bass players on the planet.
