Is Billie Eilish a White Sox fan? MSS Investigates.
Last night I had a date night with my wife. After booking a trip in 2024, a Christmas present for our girls, we started watching The Challenge on MTV. Since it was date night, my wife fell asleep 30 minutes in and like the good husband I am, I let her sleep and watched the whole show. I had no idea Billie Eilish was on SNL, no clue. But thanks to the people’s internet and Twitter, a picture got out there that piqued my interest!
First.
I simply typed “Billie Eilish White Sox” into the search bar to see what comes up. Shockingly there are ZERO pictures of her in a White Sox jersey. You can find pictures of her in a Dodgers jersey (with a NIN Pretty Hate Machine T under, dope) and they are all from one game. She seemed to be there because of the Barbie Movie promotion, not as a fan.
But if you look a little further in the images, this one comes up…
She headlined the first night of Lollapalooza this past summer and donned a nice vintage Jordan jersey. Some Bulls fans are Sox fans, some of those fans share a dislike for the owner, could this be a sign? Let’s look deeper…
Next.
If you go to any game on the Southside, you’ll see 37 girls dressed just like this. Gothic and all in black. I know it’s simple to do that these days as there is a Hot Topic in every mall in America, but this is a look that we know very well. Not a definite sign she likes the Sox, but it shows she does identify with our female base for sure (and vice versa).
Now this is interesting. Here is a pic of Billie with her trophies and our owner with his. Very similar style, lotta hardware. Again, not a definite sign by any means, but not purely a coincidence IMO.
Recently Billie came out saying “i like boys and girls leave me alone about it please literally who cares,”. Our team on the Southside has been hosting LGBTQ+ groups and events for years. Officially they started in 2012, with Equality Illinois, but during the Pride celebrations in Chicago, there was usually a night some took in a Sox game. The politics align, but does that mean she cheers for the pale hose?
Finally.
If you look at the video from SNL, you’ll notice one thing if you are into jerseys. Billie is 100% wearing a China knockoff jersey. The numbers are NOT tackle twill like authentic jerseys. Also the selection of Jake Peavy as your player of choice signals to me, a guy who spends tons of time in thrift stores, you picked this up second hand. No one in the Lords year of 2023 is picking Jake Peavy as your player of choice, even if you are a die hard. This is the biggest sign to me that Billie just likes the look of the jersey and has no love for our team.
In Conclusion.
All the signs point to Billie Eilish picking up a Vintage Jake Peavy White Sox jersey and joining a long line of musicians wearing Sox gear to get some street cred. It doesn’t appear to be her joining or HUGE base of LOYAL Sox fans (lol). Regardless, I am all for it. You’re always welcome in the 108 Billie (and even you Jake Peavy).
