The Good Food With Uncle Rico – AZ Edition

Hey kids, it’s your favorite drunk uncle of White Sox Twitter that you barely know. Yup, it’s me, Uncle Rico (@RicoJR16) here with a new blog for your reading & EATING pleasure.  Many 108’ers are traveling with the team on away games and we at @FromThe108 want to make sure y’all are properly nourished so you are always #108ing to the max.

As the resident 108 foodie, Competition BBQ novice, and Chef wannabe, I felt it was my duty to share my favorite food spots throughout the country and make sure you are aware of the #SoChoice menu recommendations for all of the White Sox away games during the 2020 season.

Spring Training

Arizona Cactus League (2/22-3/24)

Little Miss BBQ

8901 North 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ (Sunnyslope)

LMBBQ is easily in my top 5 BBQ spots in the country.  Their Central Texas style BBQ is phenomenal or in the words of MSS… #SoChoice.  My go to meal is sliced brisket, pulled pork, and sliced turkey. Please don’t use BBQ sauce here… sauce in Central Texas bbq is as sac-religious as ketchup on a hotdog in Chicago.

Blanco Tacos & Tequila

2502 East Camelback Road #122, Phoenix, AZ 85016

Not only is the tequila flowing here, they have incredible queso (@_AlohaMrHand) and award winning taco options.

My favorite trio is:

Slow Cooked BBQ Pork – roasted corn slaw, pickled onion, crema fresca

Braised Short Rid “Machaca” – roasted poblano & onions, cotija cheese

Carne Asada – charred scallion relish, crushed avocado, spicy garlic butter

So there you have it, two of my favorite places to eat out in Arizona! Stay tuned as the season starts and I break down the best places to eat around the MLB.
