I Apologize…
The most fun thing about the content game is analyzing players, teams, situations and coming to conclusions that utilize the available information and feeling like you learned something. Feeling like your conclusion had other people think along with you and come to their conclusion. Well, the thing with Garrett Crochet is I couldn’t have been more fucking wrong. Way back at the end of 2021, I wrote a blog about what I would do with Crochet, as far as his role….you can read that HERE.

I was very, very far away from thinking he could be a starter. Then he got hurt and required Tommy John surgery and I was so much more of the mind that he ain’t never gonna be a starting pitcher. I had relegated Garrett to a goddamn afterthought even in the midst of the disaster of a 2023 season.
Oops. Fast forward to 2024 and not only was Garrett Crochet thrust into the major league starting rotation (no seasoning or build up in the minors), but he looked like a goddamn Starting Pitcher right away.
Crochet has blazed out the gates not only starting but being goddamn impressive, as noted below he leads all starters in K/9 through 10 starts.

He ain’t just striking every fucking buddy out, he’s also not giving up very much hard contact to boot.

Yea, Crochet is a madman. And guess who had that right from fucking jump street??
I Apologize to James Fox and Mike Rankin

That’s right, these dudes had the shit from jump street. They were like Jehovah’s Witness to the “Garrett Crochet is a Starter” movement and I just never listened.
Shame on me for not heeding the word and picking up what they were spitting about this man. I’ll be better next time. You live and you learn. But for now, enjoy it boys, this was one of those wins that I love because you stayed true to it as contrarian as it was, and now through 10 starts, it’s mainstream.
I am sorry James Fox. I am sorry Mike Rankin. I should’ve been more familiar with your game.
