Week 12 College Football Bets

Ladies and gentlemen, King Nom is back!!  Ok, so he’s not, handed the picks off to Princess Nom.  That’s irrelevant, what matters is that we got a win from the Nommensen household last week!  The blog finished 2-2 and a perfect weekend is on the horizon.

This week we welcome a very longtime friend of the 108, our guy Sammy P!  Sammy P does a regularly scheduled podcast on all things sports betting, check out Chicken Dinner for some insight from Sammy P along with some of the best in the business.

Brew Hand Bet One: Ohio State at Maryland (Ohio State 1st Half -16.5)

If you recall in previous blogs, I’ve written about how Ohio State has had a tendency to be slow starters to games.  However, they’re playing Maryland who’s flat out bad.  The Buckeyes are looking to put up as many style points as they can in a hurry.  Ohio State will be looking to blow the doors off Maryland as quickly as possible.  With “The Game” looming at high noon next Saturday in Columbus, I won’t be surprised to see them build a big league and put in the 2’s and 3’s to prevent any injury risks with Michigan waiting in the wings.  When these two teams faced off last year OSU was up 25 at halftime.

Brew Hand Bet Two: Oklahoma State at Oklahoma (Oklahoma State +7.5)

I’ll cut to the chase with this one.  Oklahoma is straight trash this season and I have no idea what gives with this line.  OU’s only win over a team with a winning record this season is Kansas, in a game where the Jayhawks were without their starting QB.    Oklahoma State QB Spencer Sanders is healthy and expected to play.  Sanders is the spark plug to the Oklahoma State offense and in the rivalry game simply known as “Bedlam” I expect him to be firing on call cylinders.  Some may point to OSU Coach Mike Gundy’s 2-14 record in Bedlam, but there’s more to it.  Coach Gundy broke the losing streak last season and on the other sideline Brent Venables is a rookie to this game and just getting his feet wet.  This isn’t just a game for Mike Gundy, it’s a lifestyle.

Princess Nom’s #108 Pick: TCU at Baylor (TCU -2.5)

Well that sure seemed easy!  I’m not sure what my dad’s problem was, but I’m planning on never losing a bet this season.  He even gave me a few dollars in the weekly allowance for making him some money.  I could get used to this extra money.  Let’s go with TCU -2.5 this week.  Horned Frogs seems like a really cool name and I saw the cool uniforms they will be wearing.

Guest Picker- Sammy P: Utah at Oregon (Utah -2)

Sup you degenerates?  I don’t think Bo Nix is playing for Oregon this weekend.  Rumors about his knee started to surface last Wednesday night and the line got blasted.  The Ducks quickly went from a 3-point favorite to a 2-point put, which tells us the betting market clearly believes the smoke.  Assuming Nix gets ruled out, this line will move even more.

Meanwhile, Utah’s physical style has been an issue for Oregon over the last couple years.  The Utes dominated the trenches and star running back Tavion Thomas has to be licking his chops after running for 180 yards last week against Stanford.  Anything under 3 should be good.  Utah -2 (-110)
