The Best Bobblehead Ever.

Back when I lived in California, a friend of mine sent me my first two White Sox bobbleheads. It was the Hawk and DJ dual bobble and the first Paul Konerko bobblehead (fat body style). I displayed them on my desk along with a few others I got at other games. My collection included Randy Johnson, Torii Hunter and Amar’e Stoudemire. When I would print something, all the heads would bobble.

When I moved back to Illinois in 2010, my father and I attended the infamous Frank Thomas number retirement & bobblehead game. Under the direction of security, my father and I cut hundreds of people in line and we got the bobblehead. My collection was starting to grow.

I moved to Bridgeport 2 years later in 2012 and decided that collecting all the White Sox bobbleheads would be my long-term goal. I was on a budget so spending under $50 was a rule for me. I broke that rule months later (when I landed a full-time job) purchasing a highly desirable A.J. Pierzynski Season Ticket Holder release.

Less than a year later I was meeting with other collectors purchasing the famed Fantasy Camp bobbleheads, which were low quantity bobbles given to people who attended the White Sox Fantasy Camps that happened before Spring Training. Working with other collectors to get hard to find bobbles, hitting local garage sales, thrift stores, I was buying (and selling) bobbleheads like crazy. It’s safe to say I was a bobblehead addict.

If you would have told me then, that someday I would have my own White Sox bobblehead (released by the organization) I wouldn’t have believed you. But here we are. On May 27, 2025 the White Sox tweeted this –

This is still unbelievable to me and I’ve been seeing pictures of it for WEEKS. I’m honored to be the first person from Sterling, IL to be on a White Sox bobblehead. It should have been Danny Matznick (White Sox’s 4th round pick in the 1989 MLB Amateur Draft), but the world works in mysterious ways. How about two brothers from May Street? Had this team as a neighbor all their life. How do they feel that their contributions to our WST community have been honored with a freakin’ bobblehead? It’s gotta feel pretty amazing.

I can’t wait to spend a whole night celebrating our community at the ballpark. And as OG fan and supporter Jennifer S tweeted –

It’s gonna be a crazy night and that’s the way The 108 has always been. So pencil in September 16th and join us on the patio for all you can drink (and eat) for 120 minutes. PS – A HUGE thank you goes out to Mike Downey and his team. Without him, who knows if this would even be happening. Thank you Mike for always supporting us and what we do. Glad I wore that 108 shirt for my first pitch and never lost your email. And another thank you goes to my BFF Brooks Boyer. You’ve always been in our corner and willing to help out when we ask. There are so many people on 35th and Shields that have been with us since day one, you guys rock and you’re appreciated. Thanks for treating the guys with goofy names with respect.
