The 5 – My Favorite Wolfman Themed Songs
There are a lot of things in music that I cannot explain. The amount of songs written about the wolfman is one of them. Don’t get me wrong, the wolfman is rad. I just don’t know why he’s the inspiration for so many songs.

Regardless, here are my top five in no particular order:
Warren Zevon – Werewolves of London
This is the song I think of immediately when I think of wolfman songs. It’s a gotdamn classic. I still remember requesting this at a piano bar and the pianist said “I’ve never heard of this song.” What?! How can you play in a piano bar and not know the greatest piano based werewolf song of all time? Unreal.
The Guess Who – Clap for the Wolfman
The second best piano based wolfman song is next. There are some songs that just bring me back to my childhood. My dad was a fan of The Guess Who and this song playing on the boombox while we’re in the backyard takes me back. I know the song is about Wolfman Jack, but it counts. It’s also insane pandering to write a song about a radio dj that can help your career, but I love it. Take notes MySoxSummer.
Ozzy Osbourne – Bark at the Moon
I dig some Jake E. Lee era Ozzy. And the song on its own is pretty damn good. But the cocaine fueled video is what puts it on the list for me. I’m not 100% sure Ozzy even knew they were filming a video. I assume this was just his day to day at that point in his life.
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion – She Said
JSBX is a band I’ve been into since the first time I heard them. Just raw as hell rock music that I expect to be playing at Five Star as I drink my weight in Tecate & Tequila. It was probably a few times listening that I even realized this was about a werewolf, despite him saying werewolf a bunch of times. But seeing the video really drove it home, well that, and the horny nuns. We all know nuns can’t resist the wolfman.
Metallica – Of Wolf and Man
This song jams. While you might contend this is a song about man’s primal instincts and not about the wolfman, I’d say GFY, they say “shape shift” enough to let me know this is werewolf territory.
I know I left out a bunch, like I Was a Teenage Werewolf, She Wolf, Werewolf Bar Mitzvah, etc. Let me know what your favorites are.
