The MLB Ballpark App Blows

I’m not here to say that we shouldn’t be using digital tickets or paper tickets are way cooler or any of that stuff. I love that my phone is my ticket and I embrace using my phone for everything in the ballpark.

But I’ve had continuous problems with the tickets on this app. It usually has to do with the basic function of the tickets actually loading. Which, yeah, is a pretty huge ask from a ticketing app.

I know better than to trust trying to load them right as I walk up to the park, so I typically load them into my apple wallet before I leave the house. Which is exactly what I was doing last night, just a few minutes after the original start time of the game. That, apparently, was something the app couldn’t handle.

Of course they have a support portion of the app which I used. It sent me to a form to submit my issue. They sent a beautiful response that they had received my request. We’re about 12 hours from when the game started and I have yet to hear back, but hopefully soon!

Luckily, the staff at the ticket booth was very helpful. If you ever run into this situation, which others at the park last night had also encountered, go to the ticket window and they can text you the tickets. I do have to note that when I showed the error message to the guy at the window he said “oh jeepers!” Based on that reaction, I’m hopeful that this didn’t happen to too many of yous yesterday.

UPDATE: Only about 24 hours after the game ended, MLB app support is all over this shit:
