The 5 – Websites we should merge with

After seeing Sox In The Basement/Sox On 35th merge over the winter and now Sox Machine/FutureSox, it got us to thinking if we should get in on this action.

Modern Drunkard Magazine

This site has been around for a long time and if you haven’t checked it out, you should give it a look: https://drunkard.com/. It’s given the world the 86 Rules of Booze which include gems like:

  • If you owe someone money, always pay them back in a bar. Preferably during happy hour.
  • Being drunk is feeling sophisticated without being able to say it.
  • The only thing that tastes better than free liquor is stolen liquor.

However, this site is still running and thriving, so might be out of our price range.

The Hard Times

Sure, this will be a huge hit to my ego to no longer be the music guy. However, they have some really hard hitting stuff that I love. So it will be a welcome addition to have great investigative reporters as they have over at The Hard Times.

McSweeney’s

I had a buddy who would always send me stuff from McSweeney’s which lead me to reading it more and more often. While they still put out great stuff, it is a sports article of theirs that I always go back to. I figure if they can write this well about basketball, there has to be some baseball writing excellence inside of them as well:

Fark

I had no idea this site still existed. Back in the day, this was a way to share links you found interesting, funny, horrible, whatever and add your own tag line to it. Come to think of it, this is just tweeting. This might be a terrible investment. We already use Twitter, A LOT. Fuck it, I like the name and the nostalgia, we’re doing this.

MySpace

I had to look up how much MySpace is currently worth and the internet is telling me it’s $60M. I am not sure how that is possible. But let’s go with it. We need you, the FromThe108 fan, to buy 70 million of our koozies so we can raise the capital for this acquisition. I believe in you, you can do this. Oh, why are we doing this? To unearth some late 90s, early 2000s pics of MSS and myself.

Not MSS, but you get the idea
