Mailman Jack’s Nifty Fifty – Volume 1

The older I get, the more I like Country/Americana/Folk music, let’s start there.

Sarah Shook and The Disarmers – Sidelong: She flipped the script and it’s just fookin’ wonderful.

John Prine – Lost Dogs and Mixed Blessings: “She’s sitting on the backsteps, just shucking that corn. That gal’s been grinning since the day she was born” #RIPJohnPrine

Amanda Shires – My Piece of Land: I find myself listening to the song Slippin’ a lot, but the entire record is lovely.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit – The Nashville Sound: I’d switch teams for Jason, he also
puts on one heckuva show. #FunFact Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires are husband and wife.

Brandi Carlisle – By The Way, I Forgive You: It won the Grammy for Best Americana Record in 2019, one of the few times they got it right. She’s one of a kind and her whole catalog is awesome.

Margo Price – Midwest Farmer’s Daughter: Margo doesn’t take shit from anybody (she’s a great Twitter follow) and she makes beautiful music.

Joe Ely – Love and Danger: JOE ELY IS A GOD! Get all his records.

Dwight Yoakam – Dwight Sings Buck: I love Dwight’s music as well as Buck Owens, it’s a win/win!

Lyle Lovett – Pontiac: I was introduced to Lyle by an appearance on Johnny Carson, I’ve been buying his records ever since.

Carlene Carter – Carter Girl: She’s an icon in her own right. (look up her family lineage) This is basically a record of her with Rockpile as the backup band, you can’t beat that.

I may have missed a few that you might like, be patient, that artist may pop up in a different category, maybe not, I’m forgetful. ; – ) Next up, Some Classics (Rock)
