Do I Miss XMas Shopping In Stores? | 12 Days of #108Mas
This morning, I was at the local Binny’s looking for a specific liquor set that they’ve had many previous years. I was looking for this item for purposes of gifting it. Now, had I given myself more ample time to procure this gift, I probably could’ve found it on the internets. Instead, I had to pivot.

In doing so, I feel I was able to find a superior gift and an unexpected one at that. So I thought to myself, has the spontaneity of xmas gift buying been destroyed by the ease of using the internet?
I think there are pros and cons to this. For example, how often am I going to get to throw ‘bows into old ladies as I muscle to get my fat ass through an aisle to the gift I am trying to obtain? Never on the internet! But on the other side, I can save myself the hassle and time by buying all that shit online.

At the end of the day, I think I do miss shopping in the stores for gifts. The finite nature of what the stores in your area contain make the gift giving more challenging even with a list. But I probably miss them the same as people miss their exes. Remembering the good times rather than the bad. I think about finding that awesome, perfect gift at Guitar Center for my brother BeefLoaf and I forget about times I couldn’t find a damn parking spot at Ford City!

I think maybe the middle ground is to throw out the wish lists and find something for your friends and family that they don’t expect, that they don’t know they want, but you know they’ll love. Or fuck all that and buy gift cards. Whatever works for yous.
