The 5 – Best Movies Within Movies: Fictional Films We Wish Were Real

A while back I wrote about The Night the Reindeer Died from Scrooged. I mention Machete in the blog as it was a fake trailer in Grindhouse and was eventually made into a movie. Thanksgiving, a trailer from the same movie has also since become an actual feature film. It made me think, what other movies within movies should be brought to life?

Chubby Rain

I’m a sucker for a sci-fi flick and one starring Kit Ramsey and Kit Ramsey’s brother? Absolutely. This fake movie exists within the movie Bowfinger which is hilarious on its own. Steve Martin’s character secretly films Eddie Murphy’s character as he tries to make a low budget flick with a mega-star. This is a can’t miss summer blockbuster.

Simple Jack

Look, I know that within Tropic Thunder, this film was universally panned and Satan’s Alley was probably the bigger money maker. But the world is now ready for someone as simple as Jack. There’s an Oscar nomination in this one’s sights, despite the advice given in Tropic Thunder.

Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season

From the mind of Kevin Smith into the hands of Gus Van Sant, it feels like a can’t miss hit. This is exactly what Ben Affleck needs right now, Matt Damon to carry him again. I’ll see this one in theaters.

Gandhi II

UHF is a classic film. All of the weird ass shows in there are incredible. And as much as Conan the Librarian would thrill audiences around the globe, Gandhi II has got to be my pick. Mainly because it will have more action than the Conan flick.

Brock Landers: Angels Live In My Town

You knew I’d have at least one adult film in here and it was really between this and Logjammin’. But as it is pointed out in the film, the plot of Logjammin’ is weak. Dirk Diggler was so proud of this film, it feels like we NEED to see the full length version.
