The Folgers Christmas Incest Commercial | 12 Days of #108Mas

This is one of those commercials that I thought was much older than it was. But as I looked into it, this commercial aired from 2009-2012. It was definitely supposed to be a heart-warming Christmas “coming home” story, but man, something else happened. There is plenty of blame to go around, the writing, the editing, the direction, the horniness. It’s pretty wild. Let’s give it a watch:

Let’s start with the writing. This commercial is way less messed up without that “sister” line at the beginning. If that’s not established, well then, maybe I’m not writing this blog.

But another problem I have with this writing is that the guy is coming home from Africa, smells the Folgers, and says “real coffee”. This is why I thought this commercial was so old. Forty years ago, I’m sure people might have thought that Folgers was the bees knees, but fourteen years ago, people were well aware of all the other great coffee in the world, including Africa!

That said, let’s get to the editing and direction. The thing with the bow could’ve been innocent enough. But the way she says it, the way they cut it, and the looks that are exchanged are way too horny. If someone gave you that look, you are not thinking wholesome family Christmas. It is worth noting that the past decade and a half of a certain adult film genre has not helped it any. But this commercial was weird before any of that.
