I’m a reasonable guy. As we discussed a few weeks ago on the 108 podcast, @Chicago_History duped me with this tweet –
I was all excited to try it the first Sunday at the park. So I walked back to the BBQ area, they said they’d never seen it. One of the big bosses happened to be right there too and said “That’s not us.” I put my head down, refrained from crying and walked back to the 108, hungry. These motherfuckers. They are baiting me and IT’S WORKING! So I do what I do. I open the Google machine and do some investigating. I had to know where this is.
Google Image Search is an amazing thing. You take this image and pop it into the search bar and it will show you where it comes up on the lovely internet. This is where it gets really fun. Trying to find the original maker of this seemingly tasting paring is a bit clouded.
I had multiple hits on the image. Lotta assholes laying claim to this, using the same picture –
Foster’s BBQ in West Palm Beach, Florida. They call it the TP Glizzy.
Okay Beer Co in Honeoye Falls, NY. They posted it on their IG with a link to another BBQ guy.
La Leneria BBQ Norteno on Nuevo Leo, Mex. Also posted on their IG.
But my sleuthing skills got me to the original image. It’s from a pop-up called Plazoo BBQ run by Chris Stoll. The image was originally posted on June 28th, 2021. It’s a Spicy Mango EverGood Sausage, topped with chopped brisket and a chipotle sauce. And where is Plazoo BBQ? In Virginia Beach, Virginia. And how can I be sure it’s his? Cause his logo is in the background.
On their X / Twitter alone, Chicago History has got nearly 1.5 million impressions posting this picture. The first post got 1.2 million alone. They also posted it on their IG multiple times too. Kudos to them for getting some views, but is it worth your credibility Chicago History? I don’t think so. Come clean and tell people the truth!
Looks like ol’ Abe was right..GFY Chicago History for getting me all hungry for that delicious looking sammy. Do the right thing!
